Largest water fight in the World

Before catching our 6 hour flight from Tokyo to Bangkok, we enjoyed breakfast at a small mom and pop shop, very much like the ones you see in a small town where everyone is over 65. We managed to place an order even though they did not speak English. After 20 minutes without coffee or food, we started questioning whether they actually planned to serve us or whether there was some confusion and we had not actually ordered. After a few more minutes, we were delighted to see that we would not have to walk out and wonder the streets for another place to eat. The owner brought us their standard breakfast which included eggs, ham, toast, and salad. It seems as though Japan is adopting the American breakfast as a typical breakfast option even in remote little cafes. After a filling meal, we meandered around the area and purchased a few souvenirs and some takeaway sushi for our train ride to the airport.

After a taxi ride to the train station to another train station and then a 1 hour train ride to the airport, we caught a 6 hour flight to Bangkok. Unlike American airlines, Japan Airlines serve alcoholic beverages for free on their flights. Needless to say, we enjoyed the wine and sake along with the expansive movie options (I think about 25) and delicious meals. Upon arrival, a taxi took us to our hotel, Phranakorn Nornlen, which was a relaxing, colorful oasis in the middle of Bangkok's mayhem. The hotel attendants, who all look about 15 years old, greeted us with smiles, a local Thai drink, and pleasant music playing in our room. Since we did not have a curfew for the first time since our vacation began, we headed out to Kao San Road, the backpackers' hotspot. This night was not like any other typical Bangkok night since the Thai New Year's started that day - called Songkran. Everyone was drenched in water and covered in a white paste. Kiddos and adults alike had an arsenal of water weapons including water guns, buckets, and hoses and soaked or at least sprinkled all who passed by. We grabbed some drinks and enjoyed watching everyone celebrate New Year's. At about 12:30 am or 2:30 am Japan time, we decided to head back and catch some sleep. Somehow, we managed to not get very wet before heading back. We can't say the same for the next day!!
